Intro

Welcome to our video on the most discussed and debated question of all time – Who is God? This is a question that has baffled people for centuries, and in this video, we will try to delve into it and uncover some of the mysteries surrounding it.

The question of who God is has been a topic of discussion for thousands of years. Some people believe that God is an omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent being who created the universe and everything in it. Others believe that God is a force or energy that flows through all things and connects us to the universe.

Knowing God

There are also those who do not believe in God at all and think that the idea of God is nothing but a human construct. Despite the differences in belief, one thing is for sure – the concept of God has had a profound impact on human history, culture, and society.

Throughout history, people have created different gods and goddesses to explain natural phenomena such as thunder, lightning, and earthquakes. Some have even gone to war in the name of their gods. But as our understanding of the world has evolved, so has our perception of God. Herman Bavink said the following.

God is full of reality, true essence, full of essence, the sum of all reality and essence, the other being of its origin, an ocean of infinite and immeasurable essence, an absolute being, the only being that has the basis of its own existence. These descriptions can be loved more than love, personality, and fatherhood, because they contain all the attributes of God among them, and all of them belong to God in an absolute sense. In other words, God is recognized as a God with all attributes by this description of God. Of course, not all attributes can be derived from the essential concept simply by means of logic. The only way we know God’s nature and his attributes is the revelation in nature and the Bible. Nevertheless, these attributes belong to God in an absolute sense, so they are divine attributes. Therefore, self-esteem, absolute essence, can be called the fundamental property of God’s existence. By means of God’s revelation, not by a priori reasoning, we can prove that God has all these attributes that nature and the Bible inform us because of God’s self-esteem. The fact of the sanctity of God, his eternal and absolute essence, is that all the attributes reflected in man belong to God, which means that he is absolute in his wisdom, in his goodness, in his righteousness and holiness, and in his power and blessings. He is full of essence, independent, and the most complete.

In his book 『Knowing God』, James Packer says that the pursuit of knowledge of God makes our minds humble and broadens them at the same time. And it says that the best study that broadens the soul is the study of Christ, the study of Christ being crucified, and the knowledge of divinity, as shown in the glorious Trinity.

In particular, meditating on Christ has a cure for all wounds. There is something in meditation about God’s father that eradicates all sadness. I once read in a magazine that says, “The wound is not healing, but being free.” I didn’t know it at the time, but I realized that it was a gospel lesson.

Packer says there is a pain reliever in the Holy Spirit that makes you forget all painful memories. In this regard, a healing counseling ministry may be needed recently, but the greater benefit is that it is more beneficial to meditate on the divinity of Christ and pursue knowledge to know God than to focus on your own wounds. In the knowledge of God, all wounds and pains are healed. This is the word of the blessed new covenant of the gospel.

James Packer says, “Knowing God is crucially important for our lives.” Ignorance about the study of God is the same as losing track of human reality and pursuit. Martin Lloyd Jones says that the interest of Christians is directed to spiritual objects. Martin Lloyd Jones said the following.

Those who are enlightened by the Bible and those who know their soul in God want to know how to be righteous by God and make peace with God. Above all, if there is something that he rejoices in, it is that “he is justified only by faith.”…. As soon as he is illuminated by the Holy Spirit, he can’t wait to know what Union with Christ means and what the torch and all these glorious terms mean.

These truths are of Christian interest. These are the things he enjoys, the things he’s thinking about. This is his life, his world, his everything. Relationship with God! He wants to have a true, living and true relationship with God more than anything else.

In this book, James Packer refers to the five fundamental principles that Christians have, ranging from God’s knowledge.

1. God spoke to man, and the Bible is the word of God given to us to have wisdom leading to salvation.

2. God is the Lord and king of the world he built. God rules everything for his glory, showing his perfection in everything he does in order to make humans and angels worship and praise God.

3. God is the Savior, making the believers children and giving them the blessings they deserve. They actively show sovereign love through the Lord Jesus Christ in order to save them from the power of sin and sin.

4. God is the Holy Trinity. In the divinity, there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and the ministry of salvation is a ministry with these three persons. Soon the Father decides to arrest, the Saint makes his restraint, and the Holy Spirit applies it.

5. Godliness means responding to God’s revelation with trust and obedience, faith and worship, prayer and praise, obedience and service. Life must be revealed and maintained under the word of God. This is the true religion.

The answer to The Westminster Shorter Catechism’s fourth question, ‘Who is God,’ is, “God is the spirit, who is infinite and eternal, whose existence is constant, wisdom and power and holiness, and justice and goodness and truth,” theologian Charles Hodge said in this statement, “Perhaps written early on, the best definition of God.”

Conclusion

In conclusion, the question of who God is will always remain a mystery. People will continue to have different beliefs and perceptions of God, and that is perfectly fine. What is important is that we respect each other’s beliefs and strive to live in harmony.
